Personal Growth – Do You Have A Plan?
I participate in a book club with a focus on business. The book we started reading a few weeks back was John C. Maxwell, 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth.
I have been rereading each chapter and making notes in the book, keeping a journal, just as he suggests. Before reading this book, I had no plan. No strategy for my own personal growth, just for business. I am only on chapter 2 (i’m a little behind), but I have already started putting strategies and plans in place for personal growth, just like I do for my business.
One thing I have found to be very much hitting home with me can be found in the 3rd paragraph of the first chapter. “I had a strategy: hard work. I hoped that would get me where I wanted to go. But working hard doesn’t guarantee success. And hope isn’t a strategy” courtesy of John C. Maxwell. This couldn’t be truer for me. I have begin looking at a strategy that doesn’t count on hope or success that isn’t focused on hard work.
One thing that also hit home in the first chapter of this book and really helped me to get focused is that personal growth doesn’t just happen. You have to do something. You have to take action. You have to have actionable focused events occurring to help the growth. If you haven’t read this book grab it.
